1st Lt. William P. Noonan, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Noonan of DeGraff, has been awarded the air medal, according to announcement received from the 15th Army Air Force headquarters in Italy. Lt. Noonan is first pilot of a Liberator bomber. The air medal was awarded him "for meritorious achievement in aerial flight while pariticipating in sustained operational activities against the enemy." His bombardment group has been bombing German held targets in Austria, Rumania, Hungary and Northern Italy. A graduate of Murdock high school, Lt. Noonan was a grain broker prior to entering the armed forces. He received his commission as second lieutenant at Brooks Field, Texas, on December 13, 1942. Mrs. Noonan is a daughter of S. O. Johnson of this city.
